Michelle is an artist, traveller, community builder and educator, currently living in Andalucía, Spain.
Travelling took her to across oceans by sailboats and to Spanish desert areas to co-create Nowhere, European Burning Man regional festival with many adventures in between. She then spent 6 years building and making large scale fire and metal sculpture with collaborative art groups in California and installing multiple times at Burning Man and international locations.
Whilst working in California Michelle was fortunate to work with and learn from many amazing people:
Crewing, teaching, working through the nights and building with Flaming Lotus Girls on large scale fire art installations.
She taught Welded Sculpture and Oxy Acetylene torch cutting to 12 – 17 year olds at The Crucible, Oakland (a unique industrial arts school) and holds sheetmetal workshops for kids.
Worked at American Steel Studios, Oakland, a 6 acre hub of large scale art production.
After all this she has returned with a wealth of experience and a passion for making and building that is infectious.
After participating in Maker Faire in California she brought her passion for making to Bristol, England where she co-produced the first Bristol Mini Maker Fare at MShed. She carries on the maker ethos with the Tiny toolboxes project.
She works towards a goal of creating an arts facility where casting and metal fabrication can be made available for more artists through communal equipment use and classes. She has been actively involved in various community arts events at home and abroad.
